Una Voz: The Latinx Storytelling Project is a 6-week after school program for Welches School District students (grades 6-8) launching in September 2022.
Una Voz (a program from Mt. Hood Unida) is a celebration of the history, culture and contributions of the Latinx community in Oregon’s Mt. Hood region. We believe lifting Latinx voices lifts all in our small mountain community. When sharing our voices together, we strengthen the local Latinx community and amplify our amazing contributions.
Una Voz will encourage our students to use their voice to tell their own, their family’s and their community’s stories through creative expression. Because our students already have una voz - we only need to provide them more tools, skills, platforms and the time to share them.

- We welcome all students Grades 6-8 in the Oregon Trail School District.
- This program is free and open to the first 20 students who sign up.
- This program will occur on Wednesdays from April 5th, 2023 through May 10th, 2023.
- The program will begin immediately following school each Wednesday; parents will pick up at 5:00pm.
- Students will present their storytelling and art project at a community event on May 13th, 2023.
- This program will be bilingual, with lessons taught in English and Spanish. Basic Spanish instruction will be provided, and students of all levels of familiarity with Spanish can participate.
- Culturally-relevant snacks will be provided.

Nosotros valoramos y creemos en empoderar las voces Latinas de Mt. Hood y del más allá. Cuando unimos nuestras voces, fortalecemos la comunidad Latina local.
Una Voz anima a nuestros estudiantes a usar sus voces para contar sus historias propias, sus familiares, y las historias de su comunidad con la ayuda de la expresión creativa. Nuestros estudiantes tienen sus propias voces, nuestro trabajo es poder aconsejar, ofrecer herramientas, recursos y tiempo.

- Nosotros damos la bienvenida a todos los estudiantes del grado escolar 6-8 in el condado escolar de Oregón Trail.
- Este programa es gratis y abierto a los primero 20 estudiantes que se inscriba
- El programa comenzara el miércoles 4 de Abril del 2023 y continuara hasta el 10 de May del 2023.
- El programa empezara inmediatamente después de escuela y terminara a las 5:00pm
- Cada estudiante tendrá la oportunidad de presentar su proyecto en un evento comunitario el 29 de octubre del 2022.
- Este programa será bilingüe, con lecciones en inglés y español. La opción de español básico será disponible, y estudiantes de diferentes niveles de conocimiento español será ofrecido.
